Log in to 'your accounts'.
- On the 'Your money' page select 'view' from next to the savings account you want to use for your transaction.
- Then select 'Make a deposit' from the menu options on the left of the page:
- Alternatively once you've logged in to 'your accounts', you can select the 'Move money' tab and choose 'Make a one-off payment'.
You can pay money into your Egg Savings Account using one of the following methods:
1. Debit card
- The debit card must be held in your name.
- From the 'Make a one-off payment' option, enter the amount you want to pay.
- If you have accounts stored in your 'Accounts address book', they should appear in the 'from' drop-down list. If the account you want to pay from isn't already saved in your address book, select 'add' and save the account details there.
- You can add Maestro, Visa Debit Card, Visa Electron and Solo card details to your 'Accounts address book', and you can pay up to £10,000 per day into your Egg Savings Account (although this limit depends on your bank's authorisation limit).
Payments are normally credited to your account within one working day, and you can withdraw your payment as soon as it's credited to your account.
2. BACS payment (electronic transfer)
To make a BACS payment to your Egg Savings Account, ask your external bank to transfer money by BACS to:
- Sort code: 40-61-99.
- Account number: your eight-digit Egg Savings Account number (if yours only has seven digits, just add a zero at the start).
This payment takes three to four working days to clear into your Egg Savings Account and will then be available to withdraw.
3. Faster Payments
Check whether your external bank has the facilities to make a Faster Payment. If they do, you'll need to provide the following information:
- Sort code: 40-61-99
- Account number: your eight-digit Egg Savings Account number (if yours only has seven digits, just add a zero at the start).
Faster Payments received before 3pm Monday to Friday will be applied to your Egg Savings Account the same working day.
Faster Payments received after 3pm, or on a weekend or Bank Holiday will be applied to your Egg Savings Account the next working day.
4. CHAPS payment - same day electronic transfer
To make a CHAPS payment to your Egg Savings Account, ask your external bank to transfer money by 'CHAPS' to:
- Sort code: 40-02-50
- Our account number: 11049151
They also need to quote your eight-digit Egg Savings Account number (if yours only has seven digits, just add a zero at the start) as a reference.
Money can be cleared into your Egg Savings Account on the same working day, but you need to check what your external bank's cut-off time is.
Most banks and building societies charge for this type of payment.
5. Direct Debit
You can use a Direct Debit to make regular payments to your Egg Savings Account. To set a Direct Debit up online or amend or cancel one, you must be an account holder on the account you want to pay from.
- Select the option to 'Change your regular payments' and follow the on-screen instructions to set up a new Direct Debit.
The maximum payment you can make is £50,000 per day. It takes five working days from the date the payment is credited to your account to clear.
6. Cheque
- You'll need a paying-in book and pre-paid envelopes. You can request either of these by sending us a secure message.
- You should make your cheque payable to 'Egg, (Account Holder Name(s)), (Account Number)' eg: Egg, Mr Smith, 12345678.
Your cheque is likely to be returned if it is made payable simply to 'Egg'.
- If you have a cheque made payable in your name, you can send it to us with a pre-printed paying-in slip. On the reverse of the cheque, you should write your name, address and Egg account number.
When you make a cheque payment, you will start earning interest on it three working days after the payment is shown on your account. If you want to withdraw the funds, you should allow seven working days after the date they're shown on your account for the funds to clear.
